Date: Monday September 12, 2011 Project Name: Ankle Strengthening Device with Video Game Interface for Children with Cerebral Palsy Group Number: 21 Group Members: Amanda Meppelink, Kelly Hill, Liz Phillips
Current status of project: Group members, mentor, and project have been chosen. Our team met with our mentor to learn about the current need and desired outcome.
Work completed in the last week: Last week we compared several project options before deciding to work under Dr. Jack Engsberg’s mentorship on the design of an ankle strengthening device with a video game interface for children with cerebral palsy. We met with Dr. Engsberg a second time to learn more about relevant existing technologies, previous work in the lab, and the vision for our device. We began reviewing relevant literature and thinking about our project’s scope.
Work planned for next week: This week we will continue reviewing previous literature to learn more about cerebral palsy, the benefits of strength training, and relevant extant devices and patents. Our team will work together to define and write our project scope.
Anything needed from mentor/client or TA or instructor to continue work: We plan to submit our project scope to Dr. Engsberg to receive his feedback and suggestions.
