Date: September 19th, 2011 Project Name: Ankle Strengthening Device with Video Game Interface for Children with Cerebral Palsy Group Number: 21 Group Members: Amanda Meppelink, Liz Phillips, Kelly Hill
Current status of project: We have created the preliminary project scope and specifications, and we are waiting to receive feedback. We are working on the “Becoming Informed” aspect of the design process, and we have begun to “Define the problem” through our initial project scope and specifications.
Work completed in the last week: We defined the problem by creating a preliminary project scope and design specifications. Our mentor, Dr. Jack Engsberg, reviewed our scope and specifications and made comments. We also did literature searches on the problem and the need for a portable “at-home” ankle strengthening device for children with cerebral palsy. We created a preliminary Project Development Schedule to focus our time and resources on upcoming deadlines and stay productive.
Work planned for next week: We will continue our research on Cerebral Palsy and the need for an ankle strength training device on literature search engines such as PubMed. We will also continue our research of existing technology through patent searches and other web searches, including the website bmesource.org. Toward the middle of the week we will meet to discuss our research and start creating an outline for our first paper and oral presentation. On Friday we will meet with our mentor to discuss our first presentation and our outline notes. Then we will write the paper and create a power point presentation for our initial report.
Anything needed from mentor/client or TA or instructor to continue work: We will meet with our mentor, Dr. Engsberg, this week to discuss the first paper and presentation.
