Date: Monday, November 14th, 2011 Project Name: Flex2Play Group Number: 21 Group Members: Amanda Meppelink, Kelly Hill, Liz Phillips
Current status of project: We have begun optimizing the final design and considering the materials, analyses, safety considerations, and specific design components that will be included in the final paper.
Work completed in the last week: We met with our mentor, Dr. Engsberg, to discuss specifics of the optimization of our design. On Wednesday, November 9th, we met with Dr. Klaesner to discuss questions related to the manufacturing portion of the design process. We met as a group to discuss general questions related to the design and then split up the work to optimize different portions of the Flex2Play, including the base, footplate, and Wii attachment. We also began using the Design Safe software to analyze possible safety hazards. We planned to meet with Dr. Gleaves, a materials science professor, to discuss the materials that would be used in our design, but Dr. Gleaves had to cancel our meeting at the last minute.
Work planned for next week: With two teammates out of town at various points during the week, we will work individually on optimizing our specific parts of the overall design. Next Sunday, November 20th, we will meet as a group again to put the pieces together and begin working on the final paper.
Anything needed from mentor/client or TA or instructor to continue work: We will meet with Dr. Engsberg to discuss the design so far. Also, if we find that we have more questions, we will arrange to meet with Dr. Klaesner during office hours on Wednesday.
